PRIME MINISTER PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT GOVERNMENT ACTIONS IN ACCELERATING INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION AND EXPORTS FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH
Kigali, 28 March 2025---Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente, presented to the Rwandan Parliament, both Chambers, Government’s efforts in accelerating industrial production and exports for sustainable economic growth.
In his presentation, the Prime Minister depicted the status of both global and domestic economy. He also broadly outlined Government efforts in industrialization and export promotion.
The Premier highlighted that Rwanda’s economic growth has progressed in alignment with the population's growth, contributing to the well-being of citizens.
In this regard, he noted that the GDP per capita has steadily increased sine 2017, and the Government aims to achieve a target of 1,369 USD by 2029.
On the issue of Rwanda’s trade deficit, Prime Minister revealed that this should not be a big concern as most of the country’s imports are materials used as intermediate goods in the manufacturing industry.
The Prime Minister concluded his presentation by reassuring Rwandans of the Government’s commitment to sustaining economic growth and ensuring resilience amidst global challenges.
He further urged collective efforts to safeguard and further strengthen the nation's economic achievements.
