Rubavu Bonded Warehouse to Open in Early August 2025

The Rubavu Bonded Warehouse, currently under construction by DP World, is scheduled to open in early August 2025. The facility is strategically located at the Petite Barrière border post between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda’s busiest border.

During a visit to the site on Friday, 20th June 2025, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi, toured the construction site to assess progress. He was received by Mr. Shushant Mallik of DP World, who confirmed the planned opening timeline.

Once operational, the bonded warehouse is expected to play a critical role in improving customs processes, enhancing the security of goods, and facilitating the smooth movement of cross-border trade. Its location at a high-traffic border point positions it as a key infrastructure project supporting regional commerce and economic integration.

Rwanda continues to work closely with partners to boost trade logistics and improve the country’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.
