Announcement on streamlining service delivery in National Quality Infrastructure Institutions
With reference to the decisions made by the Government of Rwanda in the process to streamline service delivery in the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) Insitutions; The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) wishes to inform the public and business community that effective from 6 January 2025:
- All quality and safety licenses/permits issued by regulatory bodies - Rwanda FDA; Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (RICA) and Rwanda Standards Board (RSB) will be valid for 5 years renewable upon compliance with regulatory and standards requirements. This excludes licenses/permits related to imports of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and medical devices;
- Export license is no longer required except when required by the importing country;
- Import permits/licenses shall be issued to only high-risk products;
- For domestic industries/enterprises, Service fees for SMEs are waived and the cost of services offered to large entreprises shall not exceed 100,000 Frw which is paid to the National Treasury via RSB account.
