Mr. Emmanuel HATEGEKA
Permanent Secretary MINICOM

Mr. Emmanuel HATEGEKA married with 5 children is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry – Rwanda since February 2010.

Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) Rwanda for four years since April 2006. The Private Sector Federation is a member based umbrella organization that represents Rwanda’s private sector domestically and internationally established in 1999 by the business community.

Born in 1967, Emmanuel holds an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy obtained from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. Prior to that he holds a B.COM honours degree from Makerere University - Uganda with a major in finance. He obtained numerous post graduate certificates for a number of courses attended in ICT, finance, people management and marketing strategy.

Emmanuel enjoys a rich 16 years private sector professional experience both at a technical level as well as managerial level working in Rwanda since the later part of 1994. He worked for Sonarwa the leading Insurance Company in Rwanda as the Research and Marketing Director for seven years. He then joined MTN Rwanda Part of the MTN Group where he spent five years heading a department as the Sales and Marketing Manager. MTN is the leading telecommunications company in Rwanda.

Emmanuel HATEGEKA serves on a number of boards as follows: He is a member of the Rwanda Promo Consultative Committee – A fund managed by the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) to support SME’s. He serves on the capital markets advisory council as a board member, sits on the board of the Institute of policy analysis and research and he chairs the board the Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) as a Non Executive independent member. Regionally, he has served on the Board of the East African Business Council (EABC) and on the board of the COMESA business council.
