Monique NSANZABAGANWA
Minister of Trade and Industry
Ms Monique Nsanzabaganwa was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry, Rwanda on March 7, 2008. Prior to that, she served as the Minister of State in charge of Economic Planning in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Rwanda for 4 years and 5 months.
Ms Nsanzabaganwa is trained Economist. She holds a Cum Laude Masters in Economics from The University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2002. She was awarded the Stellenbosch University’s Department of Economics Best Masters Student Prize, March 2002 Edition. She is currently doing a PhD Programme with the same university. Before joining the Cabinet, she worked with the National University of Rwanda as a Lecturer. Her areas of interest are Applied Microeconomics, Trade, Industrial Economics (with a particular interest in Small and Medium Enterprises SMEs), and Economic Policy.
Ms Nsanzabaganwa is a Fellow of the Havard University John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Education in Public Financial Management (July 9 – 28, 2006) and a Fellow of ALI – Africa Leadership Initiative a member of Aspen Global Leadership Network.
Ms Nsanzabaganwa was born in Muhororo (Ruhango District) on 8 October 1971. She perfectly understands, speaks and writes Kinyarwanda, English and French.
She is married (To Théogène Bangwanubusa) and is a mother of two sons and a daughter.
