Welcome Message from the Minister

On behalf of the Ministry, I am delighted to welcome you to the official website of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM).

MINICOM is mandated to oversee and provide policy and regulatory framework covering the areas of Trade, Industry, Tourism and Conservation, Cooperatives and the promotion of SMEs.

Downstream petroleum sector is also covered by our Ministry. In our day to day work, we are intrusted with the creation of an enabling business and investment environment, which is achieved through Doing Business and Business Licensing reforms, as well as the removal of Non-Tariff Barriers to trade.

In addition, we are responsible of ensuring free and fair competition, as well as consumer protection, through programmes such as customer care service, quality and standards, and the protection of intellectual property.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry is the Rwanda lead institution in trade negotiations at bilateral, regional and multilateral level, and is the focal point for COMESA programmes.

As you browse through our web portal and read about the noteworthy work done by our different Departments and Programmes, we hope that it will provide you with useful information.
