Kinshasa, 18 Feb.2014 - Uganda has handed over the chairmanship of COMESA Intergovernmental Committee (IC) to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a new bureau has taken office. The new bureau is made up of the DRC as Chair, Ethiopia as Vice Chair and Uganda as Rapportteur.
COMESA Policy organs meeting kicks-off in Kinshasa
Kinshasa,16 Feb.2014 - The COMESA Policy organs meetings which are the precursor to the 17th COMESA Heads of State Summit on 26 & 27 February 2014 have begun in Kinshasa. The Committee on Administrative and Budget matters was the first to take place. It started with the election of the Bureau whereby D R Congo took over the chairmanship which has been held by Uganda for over one year. Ethiopia took the Vice Chair while Uganda took the position of Rapporteur previously held by Malawi.
Gatsibo Leather Community Processing Center now operational
Gatsibo, 15 Feb.2014 - The Minister of Trade and Industry, François Kanimba, visits the newly established Leather Community Processing Center (CPC) in Gatsibo District, Eastern Province.The Center currently hosts artisans’ trainings on production of Footwear and Leather products, supervised by Dr. Sergio La Verghetta, Expert from the Italian Trade Commission.
